If you are getting closer to retirement age, you are, more likely, going to look at the most affordable places to live. Indeed, the state you currently live in may not meet the best criteria for affordable housing. This week we browse through the best places to retire in the US.
Best Retirement in the US 2022
To start with US News has a list of best places to retire 2021-2022. “Top criteria include the happiness of local residents, housing affordability, tax rates and health care quality.”
Florida came up 8 times out of the top 10 for best retirement living. Sarasota came up number 1 on the list. Oftentimes, when considering Florida hurricanes come to mind. But Sarasota is interesting for its location.
“Because of the shape of Florida’s land mass and atmospheric factors related to the rotation of the earth, hurricanes tend to make landfall to the south and travel east across Florida, or to curve north and hit the northern Gulf Coast.”
As you scroll further down the list you will come to some places in New England. They are as follows:
- Manchester, New Hampshire
- Portland, Maine
- Springfield, MA
- Worcester, MA
